Acidic Food
These
acidic foods should be avoided when on an alkaline diet or when
juicing for health.
Foods we eat can be classified into
acidic foods and alkaline foods. It has been shown in much literature
these past few years, the advantages of an alkaline diet or a juicing
diet. If you are considering such a program, it is essential to make
sure you are not making things more difficult for yourself by not eating
acidic foods.
The best reason for eating non-acidic foods is to become more alkaline.
This type of diet has been shown to be much healthier in the long run
and may even reduce the chances of dieing prematurely from cancer or
heart disease. The foods to avoid may surprise you. Sugar is the first
on the list. It basically serves no healthful purpose in the body. It is
feeds negative microforms in the body. These little creatures love any
kind of sugar. When they are well fed, they produce acidic wastes which
the body has to work hard to clean. Next is simple carbohydrates.
Examples include white flour, white rice, corn and potato. These
basically break down to simple sugar in the blood and feed those hungry
microforms. The microforms are basically yeasts. For this reason, any
yeast product such as bread or beer or fermented food should also be
avoided.
You can probably guess the next category of acidic foods to avoid;
refined and processed foods. In other words, junk food. The list of this
is enormous. In fact, there are entire isles devoted to these products
in the supermarket. Most are loaded with sugar, salt, additives,
preservatives, hydrogenated oils and other non-foods. The next category
may surprise you. Fruit should be avoided because of the sugar content.
After fruit has been digested, it basically becomes sugar. This again
feeds those acid waste producing microforms. If you want to stay on an
alkaline diet or juicing diet, it is best to minimize the fruit you
consume.
Dairy products are another category of acidic foods to avoid. All dairy
foods are highly acid forming in the body. Many people cannot digest the
sugar, called lactose, in milk. This causes all sorts of indigestion and
stomach problems. Any time you think of dairy, think of acid. If you
like the consistency consider a vegetarian alternative like soy based
products. They will help you stay alkaline. If you are concerned about
calcium, don't be. Consider that just about any alkaline vegetable has
calcium in it. Broccoli, collard greens, kale and parsley are loaded
with calcium. You can try juicing them for easier digestion too.
The last category of acidic foods to avoid are meat and eggs products
and any other food with saturated fats. Meats are highly acidic once
they are digested. The other concern is with animal feed. The source of
the feeds and the quality is suspect in many parts of North America.
Studies have shown that people who get as much as 70 percent of their
protein from animal sources had a strong correlation with several kinds
of cancer (breast, thyroid, prostate, pancreatic, ovarian, stomach and
colon cancers). Saturated fats are the blood vessel clogging kinds. They
should be avoided also if you want to maintain an alkaline diet. The
complete list of these acidic foods are best to avoid if you want to
have increase your chances of living a longer and healthier life.
