Grow Sprouts
Learn how
to grow sprouts from organic seeds in your very own home for
pennies a day.
It is absolutely simple to grow sprouts
at home these days. In fact, all you need to do it is some water,
organic seeds and a sprouting tray. Using this guide you can make simple
and nutritious home grown raw food any time you want to. If you have
time to brush your teeth each day, you have time to make sprouting a
part of your life. These little green wonders are loaded with minerals,
vitamins, protein and antioxidants that we all need each and every day.
To begin, you first need a source of seeds. It is strongly recommended
that you purchase organic seeds for sprouting. When farmers are growing
their crops, they spray pesticides and other chemicals on the crops to
keep the weeds and insects at bay. Well, the sad thing is these
chemicals are becoming part of the food chain. When you get organic
seeds, they are certified to be free from such chemicals. The small
added expense is worth it in the long run. When you consider you want to
grow sprouts for the added nutrition, it just makes sense to get the
best ones possible.
The time
you take to grow sprouts will be well rewarded.
Taking your organic seeds, soak them
anywhere from 6 hours to overnight in clean filtered water. The soaking
process will wake up the seeds and allow the tough outer wall of the
seed to open. For larger seeds or those with hard shells, this is not
optional. Next, after the soaking, take your seeds and transfer them to
a sprouting tray. This is an excellent device that will allow you to
grow sprouts uniformly and in a healthy manner. The trays have small
drainage holes in the bottom to allow the excess water to drip out. In
addition, the holes allow air to circulate through the trays which help
in the process. Two or 3 times per day, you much water the sprouting
tray. Depending on the variety and size of seed, your sprouts are ready
to harvest in 3 to 8 days. A good suggestion is to taste them each time
you water them from day 2 onward. When they taste the best and have
grown to your liking, harvest them. This means, washing them in plenty
of clean water to remove the seed hulls. Next you can dry them in a
salad spinner. For smaller sprouts, you can line the spinner with paper
towel. Be sure to get them as dry as possible and store them in the
refrigerator for up to a week. If you follow these simple instructions,
you can grow sprouts from organic seeds in your home for mere pennies.
Considering the time invested in the process, this is the simplest raw
food you can grow.
