Natural antioxidant
What is
the richest source of natural antioxidants in your diet?
You probably can guess the answer. That's
right, the best source of natural antioxidants is raw foods, especially
fresh fruits, vegetables and sprouts. They are loaded with vitamins,
minerals and live enzymes. There is a large growing body of research
that is focusing on the health effects of diets that are high in
antioxidant compounds. Specifically, researchers are investigating the
role they may play in the prevention or suppression of diseases like
cancer, cardiovascular disease, immune system disorders and even
symptoms related to aging. But where can you find the best sources of
natural antioxidants?
Raw food, particularly green leafy vegetables and sprouts are the best
sources. Broccoli sprouts have about 20 times the concentration of
antioxidants than the adult plant. Brussel sprouts, red bell peppers,
tomatoes, cantaloupe, asparagus and citrus fruits are high in Vitamin C.
Seeds, sprouted grains, nuts and vegetable oils are rich in Vitamin E.
Kale, spinach, mustard greens, collard greens and orange colored fruit
and vegetables like carrots, sweet potato and cantaloupe are rich in
beta-carotene. Brazil nuts and whole grains are high in selenium. The
overall fruit champion is the dried plum and for vegetables, the king is
kale. By adding these and other fruits and vegetables into your diet, by
eating them fresh or using a juicer or food extractor, you can increase
the natural antioxidants in your diet.
Juicing to get more natural antioxidants is about the fastest way. When
you use a juicer or juice extractor, the live enzymes in the produce is
separated from the plant fiber. When you drink it, your body can absorb
them faster because you body does not need to go through a big digestion
process. The added bonus is that you can ingest far more fruits and
vegetables by juice than if you had to eat the entire food.
