Sprouting
By
sprouting organic seeds at home, you can grow your very own
nutritious sprouts for pennies per day.
Have you ever been curious about
sprouting at home to make healthy sprouts? It is so easy to get started.
If you have time to make a cup of coffee in the morning, you have time
to grow sprouts. The benefits of these power packed super foods are
incredible. By following these steps, you can be sprouting in no time.
First you need to get some organic seeds. These seeds will be certified
to be free of pesticides and other chemicals. They are very inexpensive
to purchase, especially when you compare them to the price of store
bought sprouts. For example, online, you can purchase a pound of alfalfa
seeds for $6 or $7. Then, when you consider that you can make 2 cups of
sprouts from 2 tablespoons of seeds, you can really see the savings.
Next, you will need a place to begin sprouting. You can grow some
varieties in a glass jar. For optimal results, consider getting a
sprouting kit that provides better drainage, better airflow and more
surface area to grow your sprouts. If you are getting organic seeds, you
want to give them the best growing environment.
Sprouting
is so easy, anyone can do it.
Begin by soaking the organic seeds
anywhere from 6 to 24 hours depending on the variety and seed hardness.
After the soaking, rinse and drain them well. Place them in your
sprouting device and rinse them 2 or 3 times per day. Always make sure
they are properly drained to avoid any mold growth. Keep them in the
dark at room temperature while they are growing. On the last day or two,
you can expose them to indirect light to green up. The amount of time
needed per day is about 2 minutes while you rinse and drain them. In 3
to 7 days, your sprouts will be ready to harvest. Rinse them very well
to remove the hulls. Dry them as best you can and place in a plastic bag
and store in the refrigerator for up to a week. You see, in no time, you
could be growing sprouts and enjoying some healthy green food in your
home for pennies a day.
